The artist follows the general stance of visual messaging from a distance. He notices its movements in the time of an existing service society, based on the quick transfer of data and information. They are bogged down by numerous codes and encryptions of visual speech (not only) from the manufacturer to the consumer. As with any of today’s artists, Sedlecký is open to the whole flood of information that individuals receive from various channels, and the consumption of which many are not even capable of realising. Under such conditions it is very difficult to hold a clear opinion, provided the artist does not wish to manifest (upfront) his/her agreement or disagreement with the situation at hand (status quo). As a painter Sedlecký has chosen a path nearest to his heart – he studies the image as a whole in its formal construction and the whole of the message in a combination of images, or otherwise stated – in the image’s editing. He uses a traditional hung painting in the same way as he would New Media. The artist’s installation of paintings becomes an inseparable part of their presentation, and at the same time a mutable (variable) element of the whole message. In this way the painting becomes open and independent from the actual canvas as served up by the artist. He builds relations with concrete spaces and works with them as needed.
