ARTLIST is a database of contemporary Czech art, a project of the Center for Contemporary Arts-Prague (www.fcca.cz), which documents the developments of Czech art in all its forms (i.e. artists, exhibitions, institutions, key words) from the mid 20th century to the present. The database is intended both for experts and the general public, at both the local and international levels.
The on-line version of the ARTLIST was launched in 2006 as the continuation of documentation work of the Soros Center for Contemporary Arts, which have been under development since 1992. The database then joined the other related projects mapping the Czech contemporary arts on the internet: www.sca-art.cz, www.artarchiv.cz and namely www.i-datum.cz, a project run by the VVP AVU (Academic Research Center of the Academy of Fine Arts), which is interconnecting both databases by means of links. At the same time both databases maintain their specific character (i-datum is more concise and scholarly-oriented, whereas the ARTLIST is more extensive and, inaddition to expert critical commentaries, also offers comprehensive visual documentation).
ARTLIST is an open program under ongoing development: step by step, we add new entries, update visual documentation, supply texts with English translations – all of which depends on grants and other special financing. That is why we would like to ask for your patience if you do not find what you have been looking for immediately...
ARTLIST is a selective database – documented artists are chosen by the expert community of art theoreticians and historians. At present (2012) namely represented by: V. Borozan, G. Bukovinská, M. Fišer, V. Havránek, V. Havlík, L. Hlaváček, J. Hlaváčková, E. Jeřábková, V. Jirousová, M. Kalhous, M. Klimešová, D. Korecký, R. Koryčánek, D. Kulhánek, V. Magid, P. Morganová, M. Nešlehová, M. Pachmanová, K. Pietrasová, T. Pospiszyl, P. Sedlák, Z. Štefková, P. Vančát, P. Vaňous, J. Zemánek.
