Terezín, Small fortress, 16. 4. 1976
I recreated the situation from the „Pečkárna“ (interrogation room) during the time of the German occupation, where the people brought here were forced to sit on a bench and stare at the wall for long hours without the slightest movement. I sat dawn on a bench in one of the cells in the Small Fortress and stared at the wall. The visitors who had come to see an art exhibition in the adjacent rooms were instructed in a sign to strike me with the whip placed there specially, if I moved an inch. Most of the visitors, however did not enter the room. They thought I was part of the exhibition at the monument or one of the art exhibits.
