I Do Nothing

Václav Stratil visits public photo labs in Brno regularly. A large series I Do Nothing as well as Pure Mafia consists of standardized photographic format of identity documents, and comprehends the relation between appearance/character in gentle shifts. Lecturer and Couple are executed on 35mm film and presented in various sizes. Lecturer focuses on appearance of a respectable mature gentleman. Couple follows Czech Landscape, but interplays further with the author's ability to create a pendent to another person via his stylization. The role of props in the cycles has far deeper civic-character than in case of Monastic Patient and Nothing is more Sexy than Camel with Lipstick. The important is the recognition of the link to the everyday reality and routine photography production.
