THE SAIGONERS
It started with the first little car made for children but it turned into a family custom over the next 20 years. The time of Easter has thus traditionally become the time when friends meet to produce various wooden and sheet-metal cars, which are then taken for a “walk” through the countryside and dragged through the dust and mud of the paths; finally they are stuffed with withered grass and set on fire.
This joyful spring ritual of partial destruction of one’s own work stems from the boys’ childhood fondness for destructive games. The objective could be defined as achieving a weathered look of the highest authenticity.
