A series of 15 polystyrene sculptures placed in miniature rooms depicts prostitutes in provocative poses and titillating clothes. The inspiration for the series came from advertisements in the pages of Annonce in which anonymous prostitutes of various age groups promise to make all the wishes of their clients come true. However, the women concealed behind such enticing offers are far from being the perfect models featured in men’s magazines, and in the amateur photos of the ads appear cheap and even vulgar. It is this contrast between illusion and reality that Bornová strives to capture. The appearance of uniqueness, attractiveness and luxury blends into the reality of cheap underwear, fake fur and costume jewellery. Worn-out, naked bodies and blurry faces reminiscent of corpses hint at the dark side of these advertisements, and raise the question of who these women really are, what their motivation is, and what their lives are like.
