Unreality, Galerie Laboratorio, 2013
The gallery itself is conceived as an experimental laboratory of time. In the first room, Loskot has concentrated various systems in which he experiments with movement and sound /and thus with time – because according to Aristotle, time does not exist independently, but is derived from motion/. And sound is nothing more than a series of sound waves. By slowing them down, Loskot breathes life into the loudspeaker. He changes the color of objects using rotation, uses “slow motion” to modify the image, and so on. In another room, Loskot explores the definition of photography. When we press the shutter release, we stop time, freeze the moment. But this description isn’t entirely accurate. There is no such thing as one specific moment in time. Each moment is part of a chronological sequence. Even a photograph has a particular exposure time. Loskot’s journey into un-reality culminates in a rooftop installation in which he uses simple components to build an observatory that offers a fresh look at the city.
