installation in Drdova gallery
In his installations, Kopecký recycles and reinterprets his own work or that of other artists. He fills galleries with photographs and objects and creates conceptual links between them in the way he exhibits and classifies them. The exhibition Petrification at the Drdova Gallery can be viewed as a conceptual situation. Kopecký draws on the theme of fossils as a metaphor for analogue photography as such and as a reference to the strategy of archiving. He displays porcelain vases by Antonín Tomášek, illuminated in blue, and in the second room presents his own work from the exhibition of the same name at the House of Arts in České Budějovice. However, his own work is rolled up or wrapped in foil. Kopecký is commenting on aspects of the storage and distribution of art and making reference to its temporality, origin and transmission.
