What is Artlist:
- Artlist is a database tracking the development of contemporary Czech visual art in its various manifestations (artistic, theoretical and curatorial production, exhibition spaces, key terms) since the second half of the 20th century, with an emphasis on the period after 1989.
- Artlist aims to serve as a free source of information for both the general and professional public, both locally and internationally (in addition to Czech, the database is systematically being built up in English).
- Artlist is a non-profit project of the Center for Contemporary Arts Prague launched in 2006.
- Artlist is a selective database.
The representation of individual entries is co-determined by an expert board of art theorists and historians represented by an editorial board. Membership of the editorial board has a limited term of office, for a period of three or five years (as of 2018).
Copyright Statement:
- The artwork previews on Artlist are for the sole purpose of educating the public and as a free and non-commercial resource for researchers and art school students.
- Artlist as such is not the owner of the copyright and thus cannot grant this copyright to third parties.
