Nové Zámky (New Castles) is a project determined by the personal story of an old woman. Her former home is now a thing of the past and in its place stands a prefab apartment block. Takáč reflects upon the problematic of our memory of place and time. On the original plot of land he creates a stylised reconstruction of the woman’s former residence. In the gallery installation he then exhibits photographs of the intervention in public space, along with a video documenting the personal effects of the woman. Her story is thus not presented within a continuous stream of images or words, but is fragmented in time and space. And again it is the viewer’s imagination that forms the mediator between past and present.
